I think this question is identical to the one I asked a while ago: favorite individual daily, not favorite overall strip.
My favorite OVERALL strip, for a million reasons, is probably Calvin & Hobbes...squeezing by Peanuts, Popeye, Little Nemo, Barnaby, and a half-dozen other strips.

Actually, what I mean is a SPECIFIC single cartoon...for example the Far Side cartoon with the boy at the Midvale School for Gifted Children pushing on the door when he needs to pull. Or the Sam Gross cartoon in the restaurant where there's a sign that says "Frog Legs" and there's a frog coming in from the kitchen with one leg in a wheelchair. I mean a SPECIFIC, single cartoon(s). I'd say one of my all time favorite funny cartoons, which was done by a British cartoonist, was of a criminal being led to the electric chair. THere was a Priest on one of his arms and a guard on his other arm. Walking away from the electric chair are two other guards who are snickering.
When you look at the electric chair, you discover the reason they are snickering is that they have placed a tack on the electric chair seat. The way the cartoon was drawn, which was perfectly, you saw all the other elements of the cartoon and you pause and wonder why is it that these two guards are snickering. When you finally see the tack on the chair, it all comes together and it's, well, hysterical.
If anyone has specific cartoons they remember seeing which they thought were the funniest ever, please share.

Dan: I've seen that one. You look over the cartoon all seriously wondering why the guards are giggling and then BOOM you spot the tack and you burst into stupidity laughter!
Hi David
Enjoyed your work for years. That cartoon hit me exactly the same way. It really slaps you in the back of the head and makes you spit up in riotous laughter.
