As announced yesterday on
The Daily Cartoonist, I'm pledging $2 to the Schulz Challenge at Ohio State's Cartoon Library & Museum for every sale of my book,
The Last of the Funnies, until March 2014.
When I proposed this idea to Lucy Shelton Caswell and Jenny Robb at OSU, I noted that $2 represents 85% of my creator royalties for sales via Amazon.com. The remaining 15% will be put towards covering the costs of advertising and promotion of my pledge.
I'm doing this to not only help support the preservation of our beloved art form, but also honor the memory and inspiration of good ol' Charles M. Schulz. I will not be financially profiting from the sales. And so, I'd sincerely appreciate it if anyone can share the news with their cartooning colleagues, friends, and fans.
For those who may be skeptical because of the book's title, it's honestly not a story about the demise of newspapers or the funnies. It really is a message of hope, with a special ending.
Full details and press release can be found at the book's website...
