Great idea, and great execution, Lee. I've bookmarked it and will be a regular reader. Just curious if you've read "Save the Cat" by Blake Snyder? It's ostensibly about screenwriting but with really interesting advice and insights that apply to a...

Well, it's going to sound like I'm getting smart with you, but I'm really not... Most important, I think you've got to create a quality comic that people want to read. That sounds obvious, but it's a point that seems to have eluded millions of we...

Huh. One of the best cartoonists in syndication today pokes around ToonTalk. I'd better step up my game. Or keep my mouth shut, too. Guess I just blew that.

My first published cartooning that didn't involve friends, relatives, or a high school drama teacher who needed a program cover was probably on my college newspaper, age 19 or so. I drew little single-panel cartoons that accompanied the weather fo...

I know you're using the generic "you" rather than directly addressing me but, just to be clear, I haven't thought seriously about syndication in 10 or 15 years. There was a time in my life I gave it a shot every couple of years and got some encour...

I like your genre list but think it may have some holes. I don't see a spot for something like "Pearls Before Swine," for example, which is one of the more commercially successful "new" strips. I also suggest you may need a slot for "Idiosyncratic...

I wrote and drew the graphic novel Mom's Cancer, which won an Eisner Award for Best Digital Comic and earned me a Harvey Award for Best New Talent (my wife said I looked like the same old talent to her...). I'm currently working on my second book, Whatever Happened to the World of Tomorrow, to be published by Abrams ComicArts in spring 2009.

Hi Brian. Is there any way if I buy your book Mom's Cancer you can sign it for me for a friend? I have a very close friend who has been dealing with his mother and her fight with cancer and I think he'd really appreciate the book. If so, please let me know. You can email me at: medleyguy@hotmail.com
Thanks.
Guy~
