When I decided to create a comic strip version of the Brilliant Boy comic book I self-published back in the 90s, I viewed it as a promotional device for the Brilliant Boy graphic novel that my brother and I are currently working on. I have no inte...

"How many years did it take you to become a professionally published cartoonist?" I don't know. I'll tell you when I obtain Professional level. I hope this board will still be around then. :) David

Thanks, Mike, I really appreciate the time and energy in writing your reply. I know the talk of money is taboo in any professions, especially in the artistic field when artistic value is so subjective. I guess that's why I've had such a difficult ...

Mike, you make a good point. Of course, if I do approach a newspaper with a strip, it will be the best I can make it, and of course, and the ideal situation is to get paid for it. With that said, do you know how much to charge a newspaper should ...

I'm developing a strip, and if it turns out to be decent then I may want to approach a newspaper to see if they want to print it. I'll probably let them print it for free just to get the publicity. The reason I'm asking about comic strips and pay...

Josh and Lee, I totally agree with you both. One of the most valuable lessons I've learned as I try to write jokes for my upcoming comic strip is that humour is greatly influenced by my state of mind. I may come up with an idea that, at the time, ...

This strip, along with the rest from this same story arc, is sheer brilliance. I love all the Tracer Bullet stories. Mr. Watterson is such a talent!

About Me:
I'm a digital artist working in the advertising industry. My passion has always been in illustration, cartooning, and story-telling, and thus I created and self-published the comic "Brilliant Boy" in the mid-90s as a vehicle to share and express my ideas.

I am currently working on a "Brilliant Boy" graphic novel, and I am also converting the concept into a strip-format, web-comic to reach a wider audience online.
